Seborrheic Dermatitis

seborrheic-dermatitis

Seborrheic Dermatitis (SD) is a common skin condition characterized by scaly patches and redness. It often occurs on the scalp, face, and chest. Although the exact causes of Seborrheic Dermatitis are not yet known, it’s likely influenced by stress, genetics, a certain type of fungus, environmental factors, and medications. It’s a chronic condition in which certain triggers like cold weather and stress can cause flare-ups.  Treating SD of the scalp usually involves medicated dandruff shampoos. Other areas can be treated with antifungal topicals along with steroid creams.
