Laser hair removal is a non-invasive medical treatment that uses concentrated light energy to target melanin within hair follicles. The energy is absorbed by pigment in the hair shaft and converted into heat, disrupting the follicle’s ability to produce new hair.
Because hair grows in cycles, laser hair removal is most effective during the anagen (active growth) phase. At any given time, only a percentage of hairs are in this phase, which is why a series of treatments is required.
With each session, more follicles are disrupted, leading to:
- Finer regrowth
- Slower regrowth
- Reduced hair density
- Long-term hair reduction
While often referred to as “permanent hair removal,” the treatment provides long-term hair reduction, and occasional maintenance may be recommended.
