Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are used to improve the skin’s condition by applying a solution that delivers controlled injury to the skin and promotes healthy new skin. While a chemical peel is a non-invasive treatment, it is best administered by a board-certified skin specialist like Dr. Hayag to ensure the safety and maximal results of each patient. Chemical peels are used to treat the following conditions:

  • Acne
  • Age spots
  • Discoloration (blotchy complexion, uneven skin tone)
  • Dull complexion
  • Fine lines (especially under the eyes and around the mouth)
  • Freckles
  • Melasma
  • Rough-feeling skin
  • Sun-damage skin

Typical acids used for chemical peels include glycolic acid, salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid, and lactic acid. Depending on the skin concern, skin type and Dr. Hayag’s personalized assessment, the strength and combination of acids vary per patient. There typically is no downtime for superficial peels, and medium depth peels can require up to a week of healing. The results of both medium and superficial depth chemical peels improve the quality, texture, and tone of facial skin.
